Today I had lunch with some of my second graders, which is always fun. One of them had some final dregs of noodles and soup in his bowl towards the end of lunch when it was time to pick up, and he still had to drink the rest of his milk, and he decided to just put them all together. As you do. Needless to say, he felt a bit of a stomach ache shortly after.
Today's lunch was some curry noodle soup, paired with some salad and a steamed cake for dessert. The soup itself was curry-flavored but, of course, nowhere near as thick as usual since we were slurping it up with noodles instead of eating it with rice. It had some bits of chicken in it along with onion, carrot, and burdock root. As for the salad, it was some cabbage, spinach, carrot, and bean sprouts, seasoned with bonito fish flakes. Not my favorite, but ah well. The soup was great, though, even though it was rather simple. And I quite like steamed cakes.
