Today's lunch was some do-it-yourself style onigiri (rice balls), accompanied by salad, salmon, and soup. I think with the rice ball element, the kids ate more rice than they normally would have, even if it's something as simple as wrapping some of it in seaweed paper. Some of my students even got creative and mixed some of the salmon with the rice.
Today's salad was some cabbage, bean sprouts, spinach, and carrot seasoned in the kitchen, which is about the same as usual. The salmon was just baked with a little salt, and the soup is named after our village mascot, who is a sweet potato. It had sweet potato, dried taro, burdock root, carrot, onion, and radish.
Great end to the week. And month.
