I ate shark for the first time today, and I didn't even know it until I'd made a dent in my lunch tray already. As I chowed on the fishy bits marinated in ketchup on my salad plate, I remarked "today's fish is rather tasty!" at which point my co-workers revealed what I was eating and waited for my reaction. My co-workers always do this when they suspect I'm eating something for the first time.
The shark was accompanied by some soup, salad, and rice. The salad was spinach, carrots, and them stringy crunchy bean things. It had onion dressing on top, which went remarkably well with the shark. The soup on the side had egg in it, and the broth had tofu, onion, chives, and mushroom, mainly. Though it generally didn't have a strong taste of anything, it paired well with the taste of the salad by countering the onion dressing.
