Today's lunch had a few new things in it. At least, new for school lunch, though not new for me.
The main item was some fried chicken, which was marinated in some home-made sauce and topped with cooked onions. The chicken was alongside some salad (veggie dressing), a soup, and some rice. The soup is probably the big weird one this time - it had both egg and hijiki seaweed in it, alongside the usual veggies and some tofu.
Though I'm a fan of that kind of seaweed, I'm still not really used to egg in soups. It kind of makes the whole thing taste bland. I'm not sure if it's because of the egg overpowering other seasonings, or if soups with egg in them are simply made that way. But nonetheless, I dutifully ate (drank, if you prefer?) my share. Then I had an extra helping of salad to balance it out for taste.
