Comic Thoughts: HAWKEYE Issue #13

Comics and MangaKristina PinoComment

Hawkeye #13 sees the return of David Aja on art (together with Matt Hollingsworth doing colors, fab as always) and the focus is on Clint (Issue #14 focuses on Kate, and I'll have my thoughts up on that tomorrow).

The weirdness with timing continues with this issue as we're back to before Kate leaves Clint, and we even get a little tender moment from her. But actually, this is the issue we finally see the aftermath of Grills' departure. Clint has to deal with police, go to the funeral, talk to Grills' dad, and all of that sad stuff. And of course, the icing on the cake is Kate leaving and taking the dog with her.

On the other hand, we know that this is also the crucial moment that Barney steps in. I have a feeling that he's going to be a big help, but what do I know? The only things I really know about Clint and his story are what's been presented to me in these comics, because my formal introduction to his character, like with Black Widow, was The Avengers. So I really have no background on Barney, and I have no idea what the title "Dark Avenger" means for his character. It's actually kind of thrilling to be a newbie with the story in such good hands, though.

I'm looking forward to the next issue and keeping up with Kate too, but I'm starting to get a little bit confused about what's actually going on. I get this - the Bros are out to get Clint, and there's some kind of clown after him, and then whoops. Meanwhile, Clint is messing up with pretty much all the women around him, and Kate has had it. And she takes the dog with her. Does that about sum it up? My head is starting to hurt.
