Elementary School Lunch: 11/12 - celebrating our prefecture

Food, JapanKristina PinoComment

As I mentioned before, the kids are off tomorrow. We're celebrating our prefecture, Ibaraki! Since we're missing lunch, today's contained a nice little hat-tip to our Ibaraki in the form of a shaped bit of seaweed paper.

The main tray was Chinese-style food. We had one of our steaming bowls of tofu and veggies in that delicious, goopy sauce, and a crunchy salad on the side. The bowl had some mushrooms, ground meat, onions, carrots, and other goodies besides the tofu. The salad's seasoning today had a sharper taste to it, though maybe the veggies themselves made it so since it didn't comprise our usual greens.

No dessert or any other special thing today, but still an overall solid meal. Also, note how the seaweed paper even has some custom printing on it. Great touch!
