Elementary School Lunch: 10/02 - mountain of seaweed

Food, JapanKristina PinoComment

I know the above seaweed heap doesn't seem too mountainous, but the tray I was served today had double or more that amount of seaweed salad thanks to a certain fourth year student who thought it'd be a great idea.

By the way, I still ate it all.

Today's main dish featured hokke, which is a kind of mackerel. It was accompanied by some black hijiki seaweed salad, which had konjac, carrots, cabbage, edamame, and chunks of minced fish mixed in (I actually don't know what kind of fish it was). On the side, we enjoyed the usual rice and some noppei soup. Noppei is basically a vegetable and bean curd soup, and ours had mushroom, daikon radish, carrots, onions, and bits of meat and bread, among other things.
