Today's lunch featured some familiar dishes. The main plate had some fish and salad, the side plate had soup, and then you've got the usual rice and milk carton for the milk drinkers.
The fish was one of them flat-looking sardines (or is it anchovy?), which I skipped on today. I wasn't that hungry, possibly because of the heat we've been experiencing here, and either way I was in a hurry to get out the door for a meeting I had scheduled at another part of town. I elected to have extra salad, which was dressed in our house scratch plus sesame seeds, which was delicious.
The soup was wakame with veggies (lots of mushrooms), naruto, and quail eggs. Since it was already hot, I didn't necessarily slosh this down, either. I drank the broth and had most of the vegetables, eventually, but it wasn't the most pleasant lunch -- especially compared with yesterday's ice cream.
But! I can't really complain. It's a three-day weekend and next week is my last official week teaching in school before the summer break. Yay!
