Friday Things: 06/14 - books and videos with a side of sexism

LinksKristina PinoComment

[It's Friday already? Ah man, the weekend couldn't come soon enough. It's still nice and cool up where I live, but the humidity is up because we've had some rain. That and I've just had a busy work week in general. I'm glad to get some time to chillax. Look forward to a gunpla post soon, because that's what I'm doing tonight.]

On Books and Reading:

Miami is in the news for something book publishing-related! Yay!

Admittedly, I kind of freaked when I saw this post on Book Riot proclaiming 100 titles that would make you well-read. Whenever I see lists like this, which generally tend to be objective, I dread that perhaps I'm only familiar with less than half the material. This one's pretty good, though. No, seriously. I'm actually read most of 'em.

I know I've already linked to Book Riot, but seriously I now have a new destination - I need to make a pilgrimage to Hay-on-Wye.

Suffering from, or know someone suffering from, dyslexiaThere's a font for that.

On YouTube:

Another True Blood trailer!

(via Geeks Are Sexy) fun cover of Daft Punk's Get Lucky A Capella by Oliver Age 24.

(via TheDailyWhat) I appreciate Linguists in general, but this video by James Harbeck made me laugh like whoa. "Phonetic description of annoying sounds teenagers make."

Other:

via a friend on Facebook - a magical moment at Disney World for an Autistic kid who wanted to battle Darth Vader.

NatGeo ran this article called "6 Women Who Were Snubbed Due to Sexism." Give it a read!

If you have the full version of Where's My Water? on your mobile device, check it for an update - Allie's Story has been added (40 new levels)! And for those who have the free version, 15 levels from the pay version have been added to that game. Want to upgrade? It's a fun game for only $0.99.

[See you next time!]
