Today's lunch featured American fare! The main dish was chili, with some salad on the side, kome-pan, and melon for dessert.
The chili had our usual array of vegetables and other yummy things mixed in. The one thing that made this tray almost-vegetarian was a bit of sausage that was mixed in there, and it also had edamame, potato, onion, carrot, etc. It wasn't spicy. The salad on the side was mostly cabbage with a little corn and cucumber, and it's dressed in cole slaw dressing. So.. we had cole slaw on the side! It was rather good.
The kome-pan isn't new to this blog, and unfortunately we didn't have any iron-infused chocolate to pour on it this time (but that's ok). It's a rice bread, and it went well with the chili (I dunked it). The melon was nice and fresh as well and made for a lovely dessert.
Besides this, I tried a new sort of tea (for me) today, too. It was a lemon leaf and mint blend that tasted wonderful. This tea was a treat from our nurse, who brought the leaves in to share with the other ladies that ate in the staff room today. Lucky for me, I was one of them.
