Today's school lunch was white rice, a bowl of boiled veggies, and a plate with fish and more cold veggies. The kind of fish is Sawara, also known as Spanish Mackerel, and it was prepared/served grilled. It was my first time trying that sort of fish. The taste was... well, as "fishy" as it smelled. It was super tender - I was able to easily break it with a nudge of my chopsticks.
This kind of fish is seasonal (and very popular) in Japan. I've seen a ton of it sitting at the grocery store this past week. I mention "seasonal" because the quality and texture change depending on the time of the year. It's much leaner around Spring time.
